Identify Visible Features

The Identify Visible Features tool allows users to obtain basic information for features in all visible layers on the map. Not all layers may be configured to work with the identify operation. Information may include the name of the feature as well as other information contained in the database for that layer.

To use the Identify Visible Features tool:

  1. Select the Identify Visible Features from the Map Tools drop-down list.

  2. Click on a location/feature of interest in the map image.

A new browser window will appear containing information specific to the identified feature(s) found in the visible layers at the click location.

The Identify operation will return results based on a predefined distance around the click location. The operation may return more than one result or no results.  Zooming in will help to more accurately pinpoint the feature to identify.  This is particularly important when identifying point and line features.
